Bio
Bharath Vishwanath received a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the National Institute of Technology, Karnataka, in 2014. He obtained his MSc and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), CA, USA, in 2016 and 2021, respectively. His thesis is related to optimal compression paradigms for video signals. He was a Multimedia Research Scientist with ByteDance, San Diego, USA from 2021 to 2025, where he actively contributed to MPEG on point cloud compression standardisation with multiple accepted proposals and patents. Subsequently, he was with Qualcomm, Bengaluru, where he contributed to the development of video encoding algorithms for low-tier devices.
