Sanjiv Sambandan

Bio

Sanjiv Sambandan obtained his BTech in Electrical Engineering (Energy Systems) from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India in 2002 and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Waterloo, Canada in 2006. From 2006-2010 he was with the Electronic Materials and Device Lab, Xerox Palo Alto Research Centre, California, USA. He is an Associate Professor at the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India. He is also the founder and director of openwater.in, a clean water start up.

Expertise

Sanjiv’s group works on various aspects of semiconductor physics and flexible electronics. Some of the core areas are:

• Device Physics and Integrated Circuits: Device Engineering and Fabrication of Non-Crystalline Semiconductors.
• Mechanics: Interplay between the Mechanics of Flexible Substrates and the Electronic Properties of Semiconductor Devices
• Energy Harvesting: Particularly focused on applications in flexible electronics (eg. polymer piezoelectrics)
• Reliability of Flexible Electronic Systems: Self healing of Open Circuit Faults (to improve the reliability of interconnects on flex), ESD protection
