EECS Division Sets Up SBI Cards AI Lab for Supporting AI Education and Research

SBI Card was launched in October 1998 by the State Bank of India and GE Capital. Incorporated as SBI Cards and Payment Services Private Limited (SBICPSL), SBI Card is headquartered in Gurgaon, Haryana.  In March 2020, SBI Card became the first pure play credit card company to list on the stock exchanges in India.

The aim of SBI Card is to offer Indian consumers access to a wide range of world-class, value-added payment products and services.  The endeavor is to simplify the lives of our customers, employees and other important stakeholders. The company’s innovative products and services along with  responsible corporate citizenship practices form the framework of delivering on this promise.

Today, with over 10 million credit cards customers, the company is the second largest credit card issuer in the country.

The Division of EECS launched the first ever M.Tech. Programme in Artificial Intelligence in August 2019 with a batch of 36 students selected from all over India through a competitive selection process joining the Programme. The programme is run jointly by four departments: CSA, ECE, EE, and ESE. SBI Card has provided a CSR grant with which a computational Lab for an AI Lab for M.Tech. students has been created in the Division of EECS (Department of Computer Science and Automation).   The lab is equipped with a powerful DGX-1 Server and all associated infrastructure. The computational platform has  proved to be  a critical  computational resource for the M.Tech. students. As a part of this initiative, a Research workshop and a Hackathon will also be organized.
