Sony India Software Centre (SISC) was setup as a subsidiary of Sony India in the year 1997. About the Fellowship:

Sony Women M.Tech. Fellowship has been instituted at IISc to encourage highly talented women students to pursue careers in deep technology sector in order to address the gender inequality in science and technology.

The Fellowships are given to five of the incoming M.Tech. students of various programs of the EECS division and the Department of Computational and Data Sciences (CDS).

Entitlements of the Fellowship:

  • Enhanced fellowship of Rs. 25,000 per month for 24 months.
  • Travel cum contingency amount of Rs. 1,10,000 for international/national travel and other expenses to support research including buying a laptop.

Eligibility & Selection:

Starting August 2021, women students in the following M.Tech. course programs of EECS division, CDS, and RBCCPS are considered:
1). Robotics and Autonomous Systems (RAS)
2). Artificial Intelligence (AI)
3). Computational and Data Science (CP)
4). Computer Science &  Engineering (CS)
5). Electronics and Communication Engineering (ELC)
